US Health Secretary Resigns Over “Slow Response” to Assault on Capitol Hill

US Health Secretary resigns over “slow response” to assault on Capitol Hill: US Health Secretary Alex Azar resigned from office effective January 20 as an act of rejection of US President Donald Trump’s ” slow response ” to the assault on the Capitol, according to Europa Press.

Azar sent the letter of his resignation last Monday, January 12, and in it, he assures that the assault threatens to “damage” the achievements of the Trump Administration, of which he became part in 2018.

In his resignation letter, he makes special mention of Operation Curvature Speed, in charge of financing and distributing the coronavirus vaccine in the country.

“The attack on the Capitol is an assault on our democracy and the tradition of the peaceful transition of power that the United States was the first to bring to the world,” says Azar in the letter he made public this Friday.

The Secretary of Health “implores” Trump to continue “unequivocally condemning any form of violence” and to ask that no one try to interrupt the activities of the inauguration of Biden to be held next Wednesday.

Azar justifies his stay until the end of his term due to the need to deliver coronavirus vaccines and the need for “a smooth transition” between his team and the one designated by Biden. Get to know peryourhealth.com for getting more updates about health news.
